Gravity, a Center for Contemplative Activism exists to nurture the integral connection between contemplation and action. Gravity grounds social change in contemplative spirituality, to do good better, by facilitating contemplative retreats. Upon the recommendation of former staff and friend of Upper Room, Kathy Jones, we will be hosting a Grounding Retreat led by co-founder, Phileena Heuertz. Phileena recently released a new book, Mindful Silence. Grounding retreats are helpful for people who are new to contemplative spirituality. But whether you are a beginner or have been on the contemplative path for a long while, this retreat will root your soul more deeply in the ground of being. Participants leave Grounding retreats more centered and grounded in their identity, with a deeper understanding for how to integrate their inner life of contemplation with their outer life of activity.
“Grounding Retreats give participants the opportunity to detach and rest from hectic and fragmented lives to engage in small doses of solitude, silence and stillness, within a supportive community."

“So that you can gain a greater understanding of God’s Word in your life”
When we stepped into a collaborative partnership with Colonial Church it was decided that one of our goals would be to collaborate as two distinct churches for the sake of the Kingdom of God in faithfulness to Jesus Christ. One simple way to live into this is by knowing what is happening in each other’s communities and participating in opportunities each person feels would be a good fit.
