UR Neighborhood Night
Last summer, during our Into the Neighborhood series, we took some time to literally hang out with our Upper Room neighbors. It was a pretty incredible night and we are excited to do it again this year on August 5th!
We will start together in the sanctuary and then we will be splitting into THREE groups for the evening. A group of us will hang out with the residents from Senior Living and a group of us will hang out with the residents from Memory Care at The Waters. And the third group will be baking cookies and heading over to the Edina Fire Department. We'll also participate on different teams while spending time with our neighbors. Once you sign up for a team, we will assign you a location, and we will do our best to place you on your first team of choice.
Serving Team: This team will serve up Root Beer Floats and Ice Cream.
Music Team: Our neighbors at The Waters love live music - if you would like to share your musical abilities, this is the team for you. A piano is available but please bring along your instrument too. We will be sticking with acoustic sets for the night! We are also working to get a KARAOKE machine this year!
Games Team: This team will mingle with the residents and offer to play games with them. If weather permits we will be outside. Please bring a yard game (ladder golf, bags, etc.) to share. Indoor Bingo will be our back-up.
Take-Down: We will be looking for a handful of folks who can stay a bit past 7 to help clean-up and tear down. We want to do as much as possible to help out the team at The Waters so the patios are in tip-top shape when we leave.
Cookies Team: This team will be baking cookies at UR and heading over to the Fire Department to make a special delivery and meet the crew.
National Night Out
While we look forward to spending time with our neighbors, we'd love to invite you to consider hosting or taking part in your local National Night Out on August 7th. NNO is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. For more information visit: https://natw.org/
