December 13

The problem with light is that it reveals indiscriminately. We might rearrange the lights in the house to bring in ambience, or to highlight the beautiful parts, but few of us shine a spotlight in the corner that has the water damage, the dust-bunnies under the couch, or that drawer in our kitchen that collects all the junk.

How much of our lives do we spend rearranging our persona to make sure the light only shines on the beautiful parts? Are there darkened places that we’d rather not let light shine? How might we welcome the light as a gift this Advent, even to the spaces we’d rather leave hidden?
