UR STUDENTS

overall vision
This is really simple. Our hope for our students is two-fold:
-That students would encounter the love of God
-That students would discover what it means to be a follower of Christ.
We understand and believe that this happens in the context of community. We are not meant to be on this journey alone. We believe in two intentional approaches to carrying out our vision: mentoring relationships and environments (intentional space and places) that allow them to keep uncovering what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Mentors are there to accompany students on the journey and guide them along the way.

upper room junior high
URJH – the Junior High Ministry at Upper Room – is built on a mentoring model. Between one and three students will be paired with one mentor and together they will intentionally venture into different spaces and places (we call them environments) throughout the school year. Our hope is that our students would encounter the love of God and discover what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

URHS – the High School Ministry at Upper Room – is built on a mentoring model. Each high school student is paired with one young adult mentor (at times there might be exceptions, pairing two students with one mentor) and together they will intentionally venture into different spaces and places (we call them environments) throughout the school year. Our hope is that our students would encounter the love of God and discover what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

UR mentors
UR Students (URJH and URHS) is built on a mentoring model. Each junior high or high school student is paired with one young adult mentor. At times there might be exceptions, pairing two students with one mentor. Throughout the school year, we intentionally venture into different spaces and places (we call them environments) with students as they discover what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Mentors are there to accompany students on the journey and guide them along the way. Mentors will invest their time participating in shared experiences, actively listening, building trust, establishing a relationship, and sharing the love of Jesus.

Successful mentoring relationships do not just happen automatically... we recognize that ongoing support, feedback, and training are necessary to help these relationships grow. We will continue to have meet ups to provide ongoing training; and strengthen community - building a sense of connectedness and belonging among our mentor teams.
These meetings will be facilitated by the UR Students Staff, creating space for mentors to process their experiences as they journey alongside students. If you are a returning mentor, this will look different than a Mentor Huddle. Stay tuned for more information.
